LOTC Meeting Format
In order to build our communication and leadership skills the Lake Oswego Toastmaster Club (LOTC) hosts several different types of meeting. Our most common meeting (described below) follows the Toastmasters International meeting agenda. LOTC also holds speaking contests, educational extravaganza meetings, Open Houses and Guest Speakers and social events.
Toastmasters International Meeting Agenda
Toastmasters International provides clubs a suggested meeting agenda. LOTC has modified the Toastmaster International meeting agenda to fit our club's needs.
Most Toastmaster International meetings include three components: 1. Prepared speeches, 2. Evaluations and 3. Table topics talks (impromptu speaking). While most clubs usually meet for 60 minutes, our club meets for 90 minutes so we offer more opportunities to give prepared speeches, evaluations and table topic talks at each meeting.
In Toastmasters, you learn by participating. As a member of LOTC you will build your communication and leadership skills by accepting meeting roles. The following are the most common roles we have at our meetings:
A. Presiding Officer
B. Toastmaster
C. General Evaluator
D. Table Topics Master
E. Speakers
F. Evaluators
G. Ahs Counter/Grammarian
H. Timer/Vote Counter
I. Videographer
J. Humorist
K. Setup/Breakdown Coordinator
